Friends are full-time, paid
employees of Friends of the Children San Francisco who work as professional mentors. They have college
degrees and professional experience in education and child development. Kelvin Arenas
Kelvin has a bachelor's degree in political science. He is bilingual in English and Spanish. Kelvin has worked with the San Francisco Unified School District, Good Samaritan Family Resource Center, Kids Turn, Rally Family Visitation Services, and the Mission YMCA. He has facilitated student success team meetings and created intervention plans for at-risk students and families. He was a case manager for more than fifty vulnerable children in kindergarten through fifth grade, providing an array of culturally and linguistically competent prevention, intervention and crisis services. karenas@fotcsf.org |

Jeff Bostic
Jeff has a bachelor's degree in fine arts focused on art education and art therapy. He has four years of experience working in a variety of child services, including two years of mentoring and tutoring at-risk children in an elementary school in Richmond, VA. Greg Edwards
Greg has worked with children for ten years. Before joining FOTC SF, Greg worked as an actor/mentor/educator for Kaiser Permanente in the educational theatre program. He performed for students from kindergarten through twelfth grades, addressing health topics such as nutrition, bicycle safety, puberty, and sexually transmitted diseases. Rena Marie Jones
Rena is an actor, dancer, educator, and community activist who has been working for the past ten years in the Bayview Hunter's Point community. She has a master's degree in counseling psychology with a specialty in drama therapy. She strongly believes in the power of the arts to transform children's lives by giving them an outlet for creative expression and a platform from which they can build their self-esteem. rjones@fotcsf.org |

Jennifer Payaal Jain
Jennifer has a bachelor's degree in political science and was an exchange student in Santiago, Chile during college. She is fluent in Spanish. Jennifer's recent work experience was at Making Waves with at risk elementary school children in North Richmond. She is experienced with coming of age ceremonies and has led self-esteem workshops for female adolescents. Sarah Perine
Sarah has a bachelor's degree in liberal studies with a minor in ethnic studies. She has worked as a preschool teacher, substitute elementary school teacher, and childcare provider. For the past two years, she worked as the humane education coordinator for the San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
