We serve forty-eight children in grades one through eight in San Francisco. Sixty percent of our children live in Bayview Hunters Point and the Western Addition. The rest live in other low income neighborhoods throughout San Francisco. Sixty-seven percent live in public housing. Our children have a high degree of vulnerability to school failure, gang and drug involvement, teenage pregnancy, and criminal behavior. Our program addresses the specific needs of these extremely high-risk children whose unstable lives render them outside the bounds of other mentoring programs.
